प्रशान्तात्मा विगतभीर्ब्रह्मचारिव्रते स्थितः। मनः संयम्य मच्चित्तो युक्त आसीत मत्परः॥

Transliteration (IAST)

praśāntātmā vigata-bhīr brahmacāri-vrate sthitaḥ manaḥ saṁyamya mac-citto yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ

Word-by-Word Meanings

praśānta-ātmā-serene-minded
vigata-bhīḥ-free from fear
brahmacāri-vrate-in the vow of celibacy
manaḥ saṁyamya-controlling the mind
mat-cittaḥ-thinking of Me
mat-paraḥ-devoted to Me

Translation

Serene-minded, fearless, firm in the vow of celibacy, controlling the mind, with thoughts fixed on Me - the yogi should sit, devoted to Me as the supreme goal.

Commentary

Krishna introduces the devotional element into meditation: mat-cittaḥ and mat-paraḥ - the mind fixed on God as the ultimate object of meditation. This bridges raja yoga technique with bhakti, showing that the Gita's meditation is not impersonal but directed toward the Divine.
