Verse 12.2

Speaker: Krishna

Sanskrit

श्रीभगवानुवाच | मय्यावेश्य मनो ये मां नित्ययुक्ता उपासते | श्रद्धया परयोपेताः ते मे युक्ततमा मताः ||२||

Transliteration (IAST)

śrī bhagavān uvāca | mayy āveśya mano ye māṁ nitya-yuktā upāsate | śraddhayā parayopetāḥ te me yuktatamā matāḥ ||2||

Word-by-Word Meanings

mayi-in Me
āveśya-fixing
manaḥ-the mind
nitya-yuktāḥ-always engaged
upāsate-worship
śraddhayā-with faith
parayā-supreme
yuktatamāḥ-most perfect in yoga

Translation

The Supreme Lord said: Those who, fixing their minds on Me, worship Me with ever-steadfast devotion and endowed with supreme faith - them I consider the most perfect in yoga.

Commentary

Krishna's direct answer establishes the primacy of personal devotion. Ramanuja emphasizes that 'yuktatamāḥ' (most perfect) is a superlative - not merely equal but superior to the path of the impersonal. The combination of mental focus (manas), constancy (nitya-yukta), and faith (śraddhā) defines the complete devotee.
