Commentary

Krishna introduces the teaching on Brahman realization through yoga. Shankaracharya explains that the 'akshara' here refers to Om, the syllable that represents Brahman. The three qualifications mentioned - Vedic knowledge, renunciation of desire, and brahmacharya - indicate the prerequisites for this highest realization.
