Translation
At the time of death, with an unmoving mind, endowed with devotion and the power of yoga, fixing the life force between the eyebrows, one attains that Supreme Divine Person.
Commentary
This verse describes the yogic technique for conscious departure at death. The practitioner combines devotion (bhakti), yogic power (yoga-bala), and mental steadiness (acala manas) while directing prana to the ajna chakra. Shankaracharya notes this is the practical application of the principle stated in verse 8.5.
