Word-by-Word Meanings

śokam-grief
ucchoṣaṇam-drying up
indriyāṇām-of the senses
rājyam-kingdom
surāṇām-of the gods

Translation

I do not see what could remove this grief that is drying up my senses, even if I were to obtain an unrivaled and prosperous kingdom on earth, or even sovereignty over the gods.

Commentary

Arjuna acknowledges that no material gain can cure his existential grief. This recognition that worldly solutions cannot address spiritual problems is itself a sign of readiness for higher knowledge.
