Word-by-Word Meanings
Translation
My nature is afflicted by the weakness of pity. My mind is confused about duty. I ask you: tell me decisively what is best for me. I am your disciple. Instruct me, who has surrendered to you.
Commentary
This is the pivotal verse where Arjuna formally becomes Krishna's disciple. By admitting confusion and surrendering, Arjuna creates the conditions for receiving wisdom. The guru-disciple relationship is established, transforming a battlefield conversation into sacred teaching.
