तानि सर्वाणि संयम्य युक्त आसीत मत्परः। वशे हि यस्येन्द्रियाणि तस्य प्रज्ञा प्रतिष्ठिता॥
Transliteration (IAST)
tāni sarvāṇi saṁyamya yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ vaśe hi yasyendriyāṇi tasya prajñā pratiṣṭhitā
Word-by-Word Meanings
saṁyamya-having restrained
yuktaḥ-disciplined
mat-paraḥ-devoted to Me
vaśe-under control
indriyāṇi-senses
Translation
Having restrained all the senses, one should sit in meditation, devoted to Me. For one whose senses are under control, wisdom is firmly established.
Commentary
After acknowledging the difficulty of sense control, Krishna provides the solution: devotion to the Supreme (mat-paraḥ). This introduces the bhakti element into what has been primarily a jnana and karma yoga discourse. Devotion provides the higher taste that makes sense restraint natural rather than forced.
