Commentary

Shankaracharya explains that true knowledge of Purushottama naturally culminates in wholehearted devotion (sarva-bhāvena bhajati). The term 'sarva-vit' indicates that knowing God as Purushottama is the culmination of all knowledge - nothing remains to be known. Ramanuja emphasizes that this verse unites jnana and bhakti: right knowledge leads to complete surrender. Madhva notes that 'sarva-bhāvena' means with all faculties - mind, speech, and body - directed toward the Lord.
