Verse 9.5

Speaker: Krishna

Sanskrit

न च मत्स्थानि भूतानि पश्य मे योगमैश्वरम् | भूतभृन्न च भूतस्थो ममात्मा भूतभावनः ||५||

Transliteration (IAST)

na ca mat-sthāni bhūtāni paśya me yogam aiśvaram bhūta-bhṛn na ca bhūta-stho mamātmā bhūta-bhāvanaḥ

Word-by-Word Meanings

na ca-and yet not
mat-sthāni-situated in Me
bhūtāni-beings
paśya-behold
yogam aiśvaram-divine mystic power
bhūta-bhṛt-sustainer of beings
bhūta-bhāvanaḥ-source of all beings

Translation

And yet beings do not dwell in Me - behold My divine mystic power! I am the sustainer and source of all beings, yet My Self does not dwell in them.

Commentary

Krishna deepens the paradox of verse 4. After saying all beings exist in Him, He now says they do not - revealing the mystery of divine yoga (yogam aiśvaram). This transcends logical categories, pointing to a reality beyond dualistic thinking where God sustains without being limited.
