Verse 9.11

Speaker: Krishna

Sanskrit

अवजानन्ति मां मूढा मानुषीं तनुमाश्रितम् | परं भावमजानन्तो मम भूतमहेश्वरम् ||११||

Transliteration (IAST)

avajānanti māṁ mūḍhā mānuṣīṁ tanum āśritam paraṁ bhāvam ajānanto mama bhūta-maheśvaram

Word-by-Word Meanings

avajānanti-disregard
mūḍhāḥ-the foolish
mānuṣīm-human
tanum-form/body
param bhāvam-supreme nature
bhūta-maheśvaram-great Lord of all beings

Translation

Fools disregard Me when I descend in human form, not knowing My supreme nature as the great Lord of all beings.

Commentary

Krishna addresses those who see only His human appearance and miss His divine reality. The word 'mūḍhāḥ' (deluded) indicates this is not mere ignorance but willful blindness. This verse anticipates the theophany of Chapter 11 where Arjuna will see beyond the human form.
