श्रीभगवानुवाच | मय्यासक्तमनाः पार्थ योगं युञ्जन्मदाश्रयः | असंशयं समग्रं मां यथा ज्ञास्यसि तच्छृणु ||१||

Transliteration (IAST)

śrī bhagavān uvāca | mayyāsaktamanāḥ pārtha yogaṁ yuñjanmadāśrayaḥ | asaṁśayaṁ samagraṁ māṁ yathā jñāsyasi tacchṛṇu ||1||

Translation

The Blessed Lord said: O Partha, hear how you shall know Me completely and without doubt, with your mind attached to Me, practicing yoga and taking refuge in Me.

Commentary

Krishna opens Chapter 7 by promising complete knowledge (samagram) of His divine nature. This verse establishes the prerequisite for jnana: a mind devoted to the Divine. Shankaracharya notes that both attachment (asakti) and practice (yoga) are necessary for this realization.
