यदा विनियतं चित्तमात्मन्येवावतिष्ठते। निःस्पृहः सर्वकामेभ्यो युक्त इत्युच्यते तदा॥

Transliteration (IAST)

yadā viniyataṁ cittam ātmany evāvatiṣṭhate niḥspṛhaḥ sarva-kāmebhyo yukta ity ucyate tadā

Translation

When the disciplined mind rests in the Self alone, free from longing for all desires - then one is said to be established in yoga.

Commentary

This verse defines the state of yoga attainment: the mind, fully controlled, rests exclusively in the ātman without any pull toward external desires. The word niḥspṛhaḥ indicates not suppression but genuine freedom from craving.
