Transliteration (IAST)

vyāmiśreṇeva vākyena buddhiṁ mohayasīva me | tad ekaṁ vada niścitya yena śreyo 'ham āpnuyām ||

Word-by-Word Meanings

व्यामिश्रेण-ambiguous
वाक्येन-by words
बुद्धिम्-intelligence
मोहयसि-you confuse
निश्चित्य-decisively
श्रेयः-the better path

Translation

With these seemingly contradictory words, You are confusing my intelligence. Tell me decisively the one path by which I may attain the highest good.

Commentary

Arjuna's frustration reflects the common human desire for a single, clear path. He wants Krishna to choose between knowledge and action. Krishna's response will reveal that these are not contradictory but complementary approaches suited to different temperaments.
