Word-by-Word Meanings
उदाराः-noble/generous
सर्वे-all
ज्ञानी-the wise one
आत्मा एव-My very Self
मे मतम्-My opinion
अनुत्तमाम्-the highest
गतिम्-goal
Translation
All these are indeed noble, but the wise one I regard as My very Self. For with mind steadfast, he is established in Me alone as the supreme goal.
Commentary
Krishna declares all four types of devotees noble (udarah), but the jnani holds a unique position - he is considered God's own Self. This extraordinary statement reveals the non-dual intimacy between the realized soul and the Divine. The jnani sees God as the ultimate destination (anuttamam gatim).
