Translation

Some offer hearing and other senses as sacrifice in the fire of restraint, and others offer sound and other sense objects as sacrifice in the fire of the senses.

Commentary

Two complementary approaches to sense mastery are described: some withdraw the senses from their objects (pratyāhāra), while others engage the senses with objects in a spirit of offering. Both are valid forms of yajña when performed with awareness and dedication.
