उत्सीदेयुरिमे लोका न कुर्यां कर्म चेदहम्। सङ्करस्य च कर्ता स्यामुपहन्यामिमाः प्रजाः।।

Transliteration (IAST)

utsīdeyur ime lokā na kuryāṁ karma ced aham | saṅkarasya ca kartā syām upahanyām imāḥ prajāḥ ||

Translation

If I did not perform action, these worlds would perish. I would be the cause of confusion and would destroy these beings.

Commentary

Krishna reveals the cosmic stakes of divine inaction. The entire created order depends on the Lord's continuous engagement. This verse underscores that action is not merely personal duty but a cosmic necessity. Even the Supreme Being acts to maintain universal harmony.
