Commentary

Krishna prepares to deliver the ultimate teaching, motivated by love for Arjuna. Shankaracharya notes that 'sarva-guhyatamam' (most secret of all) indicates that what follows surpasses even the previous 'secret' teachings. Ramanuja emphasizes that divine knowledge flows from divine love - Krishna teaches because Arjuna is 'iṣṭa' (beloved), showing that grace is the foundation of revelation.
