Translation
Non-attachment, absence of clinging to son, wife, home, and the rest, and constant even-mindedness in the face of desirable and undesirable events -
Commentary
Krishna continues the enumeration of knowledge-qualities. Non-attachment does not mean abandoning family but rather freedom from possessive identification. Shankaracharya clarifies that sama-cittatva (equanimity) means the mind remains undisturbed whether pleasant or unpleasant circumstances arise - a quality also emphasized in Chapter 2.
