स घोषो धार्तराष्ट्राणां हृदयानि व्यदारयत् | नभश्च पृथिवीं चैव तुमुलो व्यनुनादयन् ||१९||

sa ghoṣo dhārtarāṣṭrāṇāṁ hṛdayāni vyadārayat | nabhaśca pṛthivīṁ caiva tumulo vyanunadayan ||19||

Translation

That tumultuous sound, reverberating through earth and sky, shattered the hearts of the sons of Dhritarashtra.

Commentary

The Pandava conches shatter Kaurava hearts - a psychological victory before the physical battle begins. Sound (nāda) in Indian philosophy represents the primordial creative force. The Pandavas' unified sound represents dharma's power to overwhelm adharma.
