Word-by-Word Meanings
युक्तः-the united/disciplined one
कर्मफलम्-fruit of action
त्यक्त्वा-having abandoned
शान्तिम्-peace
नैष्ठिकीम्-lasting/final
निबध्यते-is bound
Translation
The united one, having abandoned the fruit of action, attains lasting peace. The undisciplined one, attached to the fruit through desire, is bound.
Commentary
This verse contrasts two approaches to action. The disciplined yogi who renounces results attains abiding peace, while the desire-driven person remains bound by attachment to outcomes. The key distinction is not in the action itself but in the relationship to its fruits.
