Commentary
Shankaracharya presents this as the internal monologue of the demoniac person, revealing their obsessive identification with possessions and achievements. Ramanuja explains that the repeated 'idam' (this) shows their consciousness is entirely consumed by material acquisition. The verse captures the psychology of one who sees the self only through what they own and control.
