Sanskrit

यदा हि नेन्द्रियार्थेषु न कर्मस्वनुषज्जते। सर्वसङ्कल्पसंन्यासी योगारूढस्तदोच्यते॥

Transliteration (IAST)

yadā hi nendriyārtheṣu na karmasv anuṣajjate sarva-saṅkalpa-sannyāsī yogārūḍhas tadocyate

Translation

When a person is not attached to sense objects or to actions, having renounced all desires, that person is said to have attained yoga.

Commentary

This defines the state of yogārūḍha - one established in yoga. The criterion is not external renunciation but complete inner freedom from attachment to both sense pleasures and the fruits of action. This is the benchmark for meditative readiness.
