Translation
Among the Sama Veda hymns I am the Brhat-sama; among poetic meters I am Gayatri; among months I am Margashirsha; and among seasons I am flower-bearing spring.
Commentary
The Brhat-sama is considered the most melodious of Vedic hymns. Gayatri, the most sacred meter, is the vehicle of the supreme mantra (Gayatri mantra). Margashirsha is the month when harvest is gathered and nature is most pleasant in India. Spring (vasanta/kusumakara) represents nature's renewal and beauty. Madhva explains that these represent the peak of aesthetic and spiritual excellence in their respective domains.
